Fitting, because yesterday's adventures in parenting made me want to have an adult beverage. I wrote all about it on Moms.FortWayne.com. Here's a teaser:
There's a point at which you look at a child's resourcefulness and have to make a decision: respect the kid's genius or try to reprogram her.
I'm not one to thwart genius. I prefer to think of myself as a resourcefulness enabler. This morning I made the bold decision to stop being a nag and get out of the way while my third-grader and twin first-graders ruin their lives by not brushing their hair in a timely fashion. In the 55 minutes they had to get dressed, brush teeth, put on socks and shoes, locate backpacks and eat breakfast, they managed to spend 52 minutes rolling around upstairs in their underpants or picking their noses or reorganizing their sacred piles of scrap paper that I'm never allowed to throw out. OR something. Something that was not getting dressed, brushing teeth, putting on socks and shoes, locating backpacks and eating breakfast.
Earlier this week . . .
- Deb at Urban Moo Cow rode the Character Assassination Carousel and fantasized about throwing Mo Willem's Pigeon on the third rail of the NYC subway.
Elsewhere on the internet . . .
- Mommy Shorts introduced me to "The Most Amazing Video Ever." Chacha-chacha-chacha-chow!
- By now you've heard about Mrs. Hall's letter to slutty teenagers who are not allowed to talk to her sons but are allowed to ogle their semi-nude bodies. I love this response by Libby Anne on Love, Joy, Feminism. I would love it if it weren't a response and was simply a stand-alone missive to her daughter.
Tweet happens . . .
After 8 years of extensive clinical trials, I've proven conclusively that this laundry really won't just fold itself.

He told me he was a wizard. And I thought it was pretty awesome. Until I took my Quidditch kit and broomstick to his KKK meeting.
